Choose the right BOS model for your bore size and application

BOS currently offers two intelligent line boring and welding machines — the BOS-DS50 and BOS-DS60. Both models are built on the same 5-function platform combining line boring, automatic welding, sector welding, jump welding, and flange facing in one portable system. The key difference is bore diameter range and motor power — choose DS50 for standard excavator and backhoe applications, and DS60 for large excavators, stone crushers, cranes, and heavy mining machinery.

BOS-DS50

BOS-DS50

Compact intelligent boring and welding solution for smaller to medium bores

The BOS-DS50 is the standard intelligent line boring machine designed for excavator pin bores, backhoe loader bores, and smaller linkage repairs from 55mm to 160mm diameter. It features a 3100W heavy-duty servo motor with 130 N.m output torque, stepless speed control from 50–255 RPM, and a standard Ø50mm boring bar of 1600mm length. The 5-in-1 function set covers automatic boring, CO2 MIG welding (45–160mm range), sector welding for oval bore repair, jump welding to skip grease holes, and flange facing up to 300mm. Setup takes under 60 minutes on site with no disassembly required.

Best For
  • Excavator pin bores
  • Backhoe and loader bores
  • Smaller linkage and hinge repairs

BOS-DS60

Heavy-duty intelligent boring and welding solution for large bores

The BOS-DS60 is the heavy-duty variant engineered for large bore applications from 65mm to 600mm diameter. Powered by a 3800W servo motor with 220 N.m output torque and speed range of 30–133 RPM, the DS60 handles the most demanding bore repair jobs on stone crushers, large excavators, cranes, and mining equipment. It features a patented modular tool holder system, three bearing support configurations (spherical, I-type, and cross-type), and a standard Ø60mm boring bar of 2200mm length. Ellipticity tolerance ±0.02mm ensures workshop-quality results on every repair.

Best For
  • Large excavator and shovel bores
  • Crane and heavy equipment pivot repairs
  • Mining and port machinery
  • Industrial and plant maintenance applications
  • Large-bore field machining and welding jobs

Industries Served

From underground mines to offshore vessels — wherever heavy equipment operates, portable line boring brings the repair shop to you.

Earthmoving & Construction

Excavator boom pins, arm pins, and bucket pins wear rapidly under heavy load cycles on construction sites. The BOS line boring machine restores all pin bores to factory tolerance on-site, eliminating crane hire, transport, and workshop waiting time. Backhoe loaders, motor graders, compactors, and dozer frames are all within the DS50 and DS60 range.

Mining

Mining operations cannot afford extended equipment downtime. Drilling rigs, rope shovels, haul trucks, and crushing equipment all have critical bore components that wear in remote locations. BOS machines deploy directly to the mine site — underground or open pit — and restore bores without sending equipment back to a central workshop.

Marine & Shipbuilding

Vessels in dry dock or active service need bore repair without being taken out of operation for extended periods. BOS portable line boring machines handle propeller shaft housings, rudder pintles, stern tube bores, and crane pedestal bores directly on board, keeping vessels in service and minimising dry dock time.

Wind Power

Wind turbine maintenance requires precision bore repair on gearbox housings, nacelle frames, and yaw bearing housings — often at height and in remote locations. The portable BOS system eliminates the need to lower heavy components for workshop repair, dramatically reducing turbine downtime and maintenance cost.

Railway

Railway bogie frames, axle housings, and coupling assemblies require periodic bore restoration to maintain safe operational tolerances. BOS machines work directly in railway maintenance depots and in-track locations, supporting both heavy freight and passenger rolling stock maintenance programmes.

Oil & Gas

Pump casings, compressor housings, valve bodies, and pipeline flange faces all require precision bore repair in oil and gas facilities. BOS portable line boring machines meet the precision demands of the oil and gas sector, operating in refineries, offshore platforms, and remote pipeline stations.

Why Choose On-Site Boring?

The shift from shop-based to field-based bore repair is the most impactful change a fleet maintenance operation can make.

Eliminate Transport

Traditional bore repair requires dismantling the machine, hiring a crane to extract the component, arranging transport to a workshop, and reversing the entire process after repair — at significant cost and time. With BOS, the machine travels to the equipment. No crane, no trucking, no rigging, no logistics coordination required.

40–60% Cost Reduction

The total cost of traditional shop-based bore repair includes transport, crane hire, workshop time, and extended equipment downtime — often exceeding the repair cost itself. BOS customers consistently report 40–60% reduction in total repair cost compared to conventional workshop methods, with the investment in a BOS machine typically recovered within the first 3–5 repair jobs.

Zero Precision Loss

Field conditions do not compromise BOS repair quality. The servo motor control system delivers ±0.01mm positioning accuracy and Ra 3.2 surface finish — matching workshop lathe results. OEM bore specifications are fully achievable on-site, ensuring component longevity and equipment reliability after repair.

Minimize Downtime

A conventional workshop bore repair can take 5–15 days including logistics. A BOS on-site repair is typically completed within 4–8 hours from machine arrival to equipment back in service. For mining and construction operations where equipment utilisation directly impacts revenue, this time saving is transformational.

How On-Site Bore Repair Works

From equipment breakdown to back in service — the BOS process is simple, fast, and proven.

Step 01

Setup & Align

Mount the bearing supports inside the worn bore using the centering cone system. The self-aligning bearing frames accommodate bore diameters from 55mm to 600mm across DS50 and DS60 models. Thread the boring bar through the supports, attach the servo drive unit, and connect to a standard 220V or 380V power supply. Full setup from equipment arrival to boring-ready typically takes 30–60 minutes with a trained operator.

Step 02

Weld & Build Up

If the bore is worn beyond cutting tolerance, attach the welding module to the boring bar. Input the bore diameter on the intelligent control panel and select your welding mode — automatic, sector, jump, or spiral. The system calculates the required rotation speed and axial feed automatically. CO2 MIG welding builds the bore back to oversize, ready for finish boring. The same setup is used for both welding and boring — no re-alignment required.

Step 03

Bore to Finish Size

Switch to line boring mode and set your target diameter. The servo motor drives the boring bar at stepless controlled speed from 50–255 RPM (DS50) or 30–133 RPM (DS60), with automatic axial feed advancing the cutting tool through the bore. Cutting depth of 0.02–6mm per side and feed rate of 0.01–0.5mm/min give full control over the finish cut. The result is a precision bore to OEM specification — ready for new pins or bushings.
